The inspiration for this two-plate etching came from an old black and white 1960s photograph in the Tom Brown School Museum in Uffington; a view across the Downs, looking down from an unnamed point on the Ridgeway. The smoke from a fire on Salisbury Plain many miles away hung heavy in the late summer air as I experimented with colour. My Wind in the Oats print is taken from the current view.
